question icon

Whole grain oats contain a type of soluble fiber which can help lower cholesterol.

Some types of soluble fiber, including the beta-glucan found in whole grain oats, can help lower cholesterol. Soluble fiber acts like a “sponge,” soaking up some of the cholesterol in the body so the body can get rid of it naturally.

How can we help?

Original Cheerios® cereal and Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal are made with 100% natural whole grain oats. These oats are selected for their quality and nutritional benefits. Instinctively, bakers have always trusted wholesome ingredients. Science keeps confirming the wisdom in that choice. 3 grams of soluble fiber daily from whole grain oat foods, like original Cheerios® and Honey Nut Cheerios cereal, in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. Original Cheerios cereal provides 1 gram per serving; Honey Nut Cheerios cereal provides 0.75 gram per serving. All Big G cereals have at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving; at least 48 grams are recommended daily.
